Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2025-12-21 (edit as needed) · Applies to: ScreenRec (macOS app) and this website
1. What information do we collect?
ScreenRec’s core features run locally on your Mac. In general, we do not collect:
- Your screen contents or recorded videos
- Your microphone audio, system audio, or camera video
- Your contacts, photo library, location, or other unrelated data
When you enable optional features (e.g., microphone capture, camera overlay), the related data is processed locally to provide that functionality and saved locally based on your settings.
2. Permissions (macOS)
ScreenRec may request the following system permissions only when you use the related features:
You can revoke permissions anytime in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Related features will stop working or be limited.
3. How data is stored and processed
- Recordings: saved locally to the location you choose.
- Real-time processing: encoding, audio capture, and compositing run on-device.
- No cloud sync: ScreenRec does not upload or sync your recordings.
4. Third-party services
This website is static and does not include third-party analytics scripts. ScreenRec may rely on Apple system frameworks and/or libraries to provide functionality, but we do not receive your recording content from them.
If you later add crash reporting, auto-updates, or analytics, update this section to disclose what is collected and why.
5. Your choices
- Permission control: manage permissions in System Settings.
- Local control: choose output folders and recording settings in the app.
- Deletion: delete recordings anytime from your local storage.
6. Children’s privacy
ScreenRec is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide an appropriate notice.
